Project Overview
John Moncrieff Ltd was proud to contribute bespoke lighting solutions for the redevelopment of BBC Television Centre in White City, London. Originally opened as the BBC’s purpose-built television complex and now transformed into a mixed-use destination, the site combines residential, leisure, office and active studio uses within a landmark setting.
This was a job where the visual language mattered. The lighting needed to sit naturally within a building known for its mid-century identity while still working in a modern redevelopment environment.
This project shows exactly where bespoke supply earns its place: when standard fittings are too generic and the scheme needs something that respects the architecture instead of flattening it.
Project Highlights
- Retro-inspired opal globe lighting
- Custom ceiling mounts adapted to existing infrastructure
- Lighting designed to complement the site’s updated architecture
- Specialist supply for a high-profile London redevelopment
Why This Project Mattered
BBC Television Centre is not just another refurbishment. It is a highly recognisable former broadcast headquarters with listed elements and a strong design identity. The wider redevelopment retained studio and production activity while creating a new mixed-use neighbourhood around the historic complex.
In that kind of setting, the wrong lighting looks cheap fast. Bespoke opal globes and tailored mountings help maintain continuity with the building’s character, while giving the finished spaces the quality and restraint they need.
What We Delivered
- Opal glass globe lighting with a retro-inspired visual feel
- Custom mounting solutions for clean installation
- Fixtures suited to architectural and shared-use environments
- Lighting that supports both heritage cues and current use
Architectural Fit
