Project Overview
John Moncrieff was proud to contribute specialist press-glass lighting components to the restoration of Control Room A at Battersea Power Station, London. This landmark Art Deco interior forms part of one of the UK’s most recognisable industrial buildings and has been carefully restored as a distinctive event space.
This was not a generic supply job. The brief demanded components that aligned with the visual language of the original interior while supporting a high-quality restoration outcome in a live commercial setting.
This project demonstrates where bespoke manufacturing creates real value: heritage-sensitive components, made with the right geometry, colour and finish, for spaces where detail is non-negotiable.
Scope of Supply
- Clear square pressed-glass panels
- Amber triangular pressed-glass panels
- Pressed coloured buttons
- Components tailored to a heritage restoration setting
Why This Project Matters
Control Room A is one of the defining interiors within Battersea Power Station. In a restoration environment like this, the small details do the heavy lifting. Off-the-shelf parts usually miss the mark. They look wrong, feel generic, and dilute the end result.
Bespoke pressed-glass components make the scheme feel credible. They support the historic character of the space, reinforce the original design intent, and help deliver a finished installation that belongs in the building rather than fighting against it.
