Project Overview
In partnership with The London Candle Company, John Moncrieff produced bespoke candle cowl glasses using premium borosilicate glass and a carefully controlled manufacturing process. Every piece reflects the same specialist craftsmanship that has defined our glassmaking for generations.
This was not a generic production job. The brief required premium material quality, consistent forming and refined finishing to achieve the clean, elegant result expected from a luxury product.
This project demonstrates where specialist glass manufacturing creates real value: technically capable production backed by skilled craftsmanship, for products where appearance, durability and quality all matter.
Scope of Supply
- Bespoke borosilicate candle cowl glasses
- Custom forming and shaping using specialist tools and molds
- Fire-cut and flame-polished finishing
- Quality-controlled production to ISO9001 standards
Why This Project Matters
Candle cowl glasses need to do more than look good. They must perform reliably under heat, maintain a clean and elegant finish, and reflect the standard of the brand they support. That means the material choice, forming process and finishing quality all need to be right from the start.
By combining premium borosilicate glass, controlled forming and careful inspection, this project delivered a finished product that feels refined, consistent and commercially credible. It also shows the value of working with a manufacturer that understands both technical process and presentation.

Production Process:
1. Premium Foundations
Production begins with premium borosilicate glass, chosen for durability, heat resistance and clarity.
2. Precision Preparation
Materials are positioned at the drawing bench, where careful setup creates the foundation for forming.
3. The Art of Heat
The glass is heated to a controlled temperature until it reaches the precise level of malleability needed for shaping.
4. Molding Excellence
The heated glass is placed into custom metal molds where timing, consistency and control all matter.
5. Shaping Perfection
Each piece takes its final form within the mold, with close attention paid to repeatability and finish.
6. Precision Finishing
A specialist fire-cutting technique creates clean, accurate edges that support both safety and appearance.
7. The Final Touch
Flame polishing delivers the smooth, refined finish that enhances the natural quality of the glass.
8. Quality Assurance
Every cowl is inspected against ISO9001 standards before approval, ensuring consistent quality throughout.
