Project Overview
John Moncrieff Ltd was commissioned to supply bespoke lighting for Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen in Edinburgh. Set within the city centre at St Andrew Square, the restaurant needed lighting that would support a stylish interior while standing up to the demands of a busy hospitality environment.
This was not a standard off-the-shelf job. The scheme called for lighting that felt visually integrated, delivered the right ambience across the dining space and worked cleanly with the building’s ceiling structure.
The result was a tailored lighting solution that brought together custom opal globe pendants, antique bronze metalwork and bespoke mounting details to create a finished look that felt deliberate rather than generic.
Project Highlights
- Custom opal globe pendants for warm, balanced light
- Antique bronze metalwork to complement the restaurant interior
- Bespoke mounting hardware designed for the site
- Commercial-quality manufacturing suited to hospitality use
Why This Project Mattered
In restaurant environments, lighting does more than illuminate the room. It shapes how the space feels, how the finishes are perceived and how comfortably customers sit within the setting. If the lighting is wrong, the whole interior feels weaker.
Bread Street Kitchen needed fittings that supported the atmosphere without looking forced or overly decorative. The antique bronze finish helped the scheme sit naturally within the restaurant’s industrial-inspired interior, while the opal globes softened the light output and helped create a more comfortable dining environment.
This is exactly where bespoke supply adds value. Standard fittings can get close, but close is usually not enough on design-led hospitality projects.
